- Understand the anatomy of the integumentary system
- Recognize signs and symptoms of common skin conditions
- Appreciate the differences among viral, fungal, and bacterial skin disorders
- Refer an athlete with a problematic skin disorder to the appropriate health care provider
- Differentiate which acute skin conditions are contraindicated for certain athletic participation
- Understand the anatomy and function of the nervous system
- Identify conditions that make an athlete susceptible to encephalitis or meningitis
- Recognize and refer and athlete with signs or symptoms of a life‐threatening neurological condition
- Appreciate the symptoms of reflex sympathetic dystrophy/complex regional pain syndrome
- Describe chronic neurological conditions and their effect on athletic population
- Know when to refer an athlete to a physician for further neurological evaluation
