Learning Objectives
- Identify important aspects of the hip structure and function for review.
- Establish a therapeutic exercise program to manage soft tissue and joint lesions in the hip that are related to stages of recovery after an inflammatory insult to the tissues, recognizing unique circumstances in the hip and pelvis for their management.
- Develop a postoperative program that includes appropriate goals and therapeutic exercise interventions for managing common surgical procedures of the hip.
- Demonstrate exercise progressions to develop and improve ROM, strength, stability, muscle performance, and functional use of the hip and lower extremity (LE).

- Identify common surgical procedures for pathologies of the knee.
- Establish a progressive therapeutic exercise program to manage patients following common surgical procedures for the knee based on the stages of healing.
- Demonstrate exercise progressions to develop and improve ROM, muscle performance, and functional use of the knee and adjacent LE regions.
- Identify important aspects of the structure and function of the ankle and foot for review.
- Establish a therapeutic exercise program to manage soft tissue and joint lesions in the ankle and foot related to stages of recovery after an inflammatory insult to the tissues.
- Develop and progress therapeutic exercise interventions after surgical repair or reconstruction of soft tissues and joints of the ankle and foot.
- Demonstrate exercise progressions to develop and improve ROM, muscle performance, and functional use of the knee and proximal LE regions.
